Band Bio
The James Roots Band is an anointed band made up of talented musicians whose heart desire is to lead people in worship. The members of the band include James Roots, Tom and Molly Richey (husband and wife), Matt Rohlack, Chris Knapick and Grant Lindsey. Praise and worship is more than just a genre of music to the band, it is their passion.
The James Roots Band….real, open and upfront with what they believe. That’s just who they are. After releasing his debut CD entitled “You’re Everything” in 2006, front man James Roots pulled together musicians with the same vision and heart for music and ministry. In 2008 JRB released its first 3 song Ep including its title cut “Reaching Higher” which climbed to the indie chart’s top 20. Flash forward to 2009, the band recently released its full length album “Reaching Higher” on October 30th. Drawing nearer to God is the underlying theme interwoven throughout their newest release. Filled with songs that speak straight from the heart, this album draws people into the presence of God with a vertical passion. James who has co-written most of the originals with his wife says, “We are excited about the new songs God has given us and about recording the second album which will have more of the band’s intensity and creativity. We really thrive to share our passion for Christ through our music.”
The James Roots Band is not your typical band just seeking to play music, but pursues to make a difference for Christ through what they do. Tom and Molly Richey say, “We love that God uses us for His purpose and feel so very blessed and privileged to serve God in this way in reaching out to all generations through music including not only the body of Christ, but to both the lost and fallen Christians.” JRB often seeks to partner with churches and organizations to impact their communities with the love of Christ. They have played for benefit concerts, for nonprofits and recently partnered with a ministry to raise “socks” for the homeless. “We are reaching higher by reaching out. It’s not about taking. It’s about giving. Our music is about exalting Jesus and He is exalted when the hungry are fed, the naked are clothed, the thirsty are filled and the hurting are healed. This is it. This is what we are about” says keyboardist Chris Knapick.
The James Roots Band has been blessed to share the stage with bands such as Salvador, Detour 180, A Road Less Traveled, The Red Airplanes, and many others.
